‘Project Pearl’
FAI Technik has completed the comprehensive refurbishment of a Bombardier Global Express at its MRO facility in Nuremberg, Germany. The ‘Project Pearl’ aircraft now has a custom interior designed by Tim Callies, an award-winning German designer whose previous high-profile projects include BBJs, ACJs and Global Express business jets.
The multimillion-Euro project took approximately 10,000 man-hours to complete. The work scope included 15/30/60-, 120- and 240-month inspections, as well as the installation of an all-new cabin with the latest CMS and IFE equipment. This includes Collins Aerospace’s Venue, which enables passengers to watch HD movies and listen to enhanced digital audio throughout the cabin. Also included is Honeywell’s Ka-Band broadband technology, delivering high-speed satellite connectivity.
The luxury interior features VIP seating for 12 passengers – including seats upholstered with two-tone grey leather, and two three-seat divans covered in anthracite Armani fabric. The interior also features heated grey-white marble stone flooring in the galley and VIP toilet areas, matching the granite countertops of the galley and bathroom. Galley appliances include a wine cooler, coffeemaker and oven.
The interior is complemented by a customised exterior paint scheme, also designed by Callies, capitalising on the knowledge and skills of the FAI Technik team. The scheme features black and white stripes laid out in a unique pattern. It took six weeks to complete.
