Airbus Helicopters Makes First H160 Delivery to China

General aviation services provider GDAT Group is preparing to begin operating the Airbus H160 helicopter in China following the delivery of the first aircraft to the country on Tuesday. The company ordered 50 examples of the multipurpose twin-engine model in April 2023 and has since received another five aircraft from the batch for operation outside China.

The H160 helicopter delivered this week will be used mainly to serve energy-sector customers. Operations will include transport to offshore oil and gas platforms, as well as flights to wind farms, harbor pilot services, emergency medical services and public-service missions.

Since Airbus began H160 deliveries in December 2021, the model has entered service in various roles, including law enforcement, search-and-rescue operations and passenger transport. Other operators are located in France, Brazil, Canada, Japan, Malaysia, the United States, Saudi Arabia, the Philippines and the United Kingdom.

“We are proud to be the first to receive the latest H160 in China,” said GDAT chairman Peter Jiang. “The introduction of this aircraft confirms GDAT’s long-term commitment to bringing advanced helicopter technology to both the Chinese and global markets, and underscores our commitment to safety, quality and operational efficiency.”

Last month, Airbus began flight testing the military version of the H160 ordered by the French armed forces.
