Beta Technologies’ Alia CX300 Electric Aircraft Debuts at Paris Air Show

Last month, Beta Technologies demonstrated its Alia CX300 electric aircraft at Shannon Airport in Ireland, marking the first stop on a multi-country European tour, after which the aircraft will be delivered to launch customer Bristow in Norway. The CX300 shares design elements, core systems and components with the Alia eVTOL, but has no rotors or fixed-wing takeoff and landing systems. The CX300 has a range of up to 386 miles (621 km), compared with 287 miles (460 km) for the Alia eVTOL.

The CX300 can carry up to five passengers or 1,250 pounds (567 kg) of cargo. It is aimed at the regional and intra-city aviation markets.

Republic Airways has agreed to purchase at least one Alia CX300 electric aircraft from Beta Technologies and will use it for pilot training and route planning. Under a memorandum of understanding announced at the 2025 Paris Air Show, the carrier is expected to take delivery of the first aircraft under special airworthiness certification rules in the fourth quarter, with the option to add more units as plans for commercial services are approved.

The CX300 operates in conventional takeoff and landing (CTOL) mode, while Beta is also working on the Alia 250, an eVTOL version. The company, which has already opened its manufacturing facility in Burlington, Vermont, is pursuing this approach with the goal of certifying the CX300 in 2026.
