Bombardier Equips Aircraft With Secure Smart Routers
New aircraft and some in-service models may be eligible for modern cabin connectivity equipment.

Bombardier is equipping new Challenger 650, Global 5500 and Global 6500 business jets with its new Smart Router cabin system, developed in collaboration with Collins Aerospace. By the end of 2026, the Smart Router system will be installed on all production Challenger and Global aircraft. Owners of certain Challenger and Global models can also have the Smart Router system installed at Bombardier service centers.
According to Bombardier, Smart Router is compatible with any onboard connectivity system and uses Collins CCR-3000 technology, along with additional features, to create a high-performance connectivity solution. These include Wi-Fi 6, 5G cellular connectivity, Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol, advanced security features and real-time troubleshooting through remote support and fault isolation.
“Innovation is in Bombardier’s DNA, and the new Smart Router as standard equipment is another example of a key product enhancement,” said Peter Likoray, senior vice president of aircraft sales. “Designed with security in mind and to enhance our level of support through real-time troubleshooting via remote support and fault isolation, the enhanced cyber protection provides confidence and peace of mind anywhere, at any time.”
