Bombardier Marks Milestone Supersonic Global 8000 Flight
The Global 8000 is the fastest business jet on the market, with a top speed of Mach 0.95.

Five years ago, in May 2021, the Global 8000 broke the sound barrier for the first time during flight testing, reaching Mach 1.015. It was that supersonic dash that enabled Bombardier to certify its flagship for a maximum speed of Mach 0.95, making it the fastest production business jet on the market. The aircraft received Transport Canada, FAA and EASA certifications late last year and is already being delivered to customers. The first newly built aircraft began flying in December, and by the end of the year the manufacturer had fully transitioned the production line from the Global 7500 to the Global 8000. Demand for the flagship is borne out by the figures: the order backlog grew to $20.3 billion, while launch operator NetJets received its first aircraft in April. Bombardier CEO Éric Martel summed it up: “The Global 8000 is selling as fast as it flies.”
