Business Aviation Remains a Stable Investment Opportunity

Jefferies’ analysis highlights the sector’s resilience in the post-pandemic period.

Business Aviation Remains a Stable Investment Opportunity

While the adjacent aerospace and defense industry is experiencing its busiest period in the capital markets in decades, business aviation remains a promising investment opportunity, according to a recent assessment by Jefferies.

The firm said that although growth in the aerospace industry has generally been uneven in recent years, business aviation remains a resilient investment area. According to Jefferies, the sector is characterized by sustained demand growth, recurring revenue models, infrastructure-like economics, inherent protection from geopolitical risks, and a forthcoming series of public transactions to raise liquidity.

Although post-pandemic growth in demand for business aviation has led to a significant expansion of the addressable market, Jefferies noted that this growth has shifted toward fractional ownership, while charter flying and whole-aircraft ownership have declined somewhat. Jefferies considers this trend significant because fractional ownership operators generate recurring revenue, enter into multiyear contracts, and have predictable utilization patterns.

Amid changing geopolitical uncertainty, Jefferies also views adjacent areas of business aviation as more attractive investments. From ground handling operators to maintenance, repair, and overhaul service providers, the stability of these infrastructure businesses generates returns regardless of which company gains market share, Jefferies maintains.

In addition, Jefferies believes that as companies prepare to go public, they will undoubtedly attract additional attention from institutional investors, as was the case with StandardAero’s IPO in 2024. Jefferies recommended being selective when investing in operators, concluding that infrastructure and the supply chain are currently the most attractive entry points.
