First Bombardier Global 8000 Nears Final Assembly Completion
The ultra-long-range aircraft is expected to enter service later this year.

Ahead of its expected entry into service late this year, construction of the first production Bombardier Global 8000 is nearing completion at the aircraft manufacturer’s final assembly facility near Toronto. When it enters service, the Global 8000 will become the fastest certified civil aircraft since Concorde, with a top speed of Mach 0.94. It will also have a range of 8000 nautical miles.
“The first production Global 8000 aircraft is progressing smoothly through final assembly, and we are on track to achieve our goals for this incredible aircraft—the fastest and most impressive ultra-long-range business jet in the industry,” said David Murray, the Canadian OEM’s executive vice president of manufacturing, IT and operational excellence. “Our engineering and production teams continue to demonstrate an unmatched level of commitment, innovation and expertise at every stage of the production process.”
Meanwhile, the program’s Wichita-based test aircraft, a modified former Global 7500 FTV 5, has been engaged in recent flight missions in Europe to demonstrate its performance under real-world operating conditions. With its increased range, the Global 8000 will be able to connect city pairs such as Dubai and Houston, Singapore and Los Angeles, and London and Perth.
The large-cabin twin-engine aircraft will have four living areas and a separate crew rest area.
