MD Helicopters Secures Record Orders in 2023

MD Helicopters booked orders for 25 helicopters last year, its highest annual order volume since 2008. A company representative said the orders were split almost evenly between military and civilian models.

In addition to an order for 12 helicopters from Nigeria’s federal government, recent commercial deals involved MD530F helicopters intended for multipurpose use. These civilian variants included VIP aircraft for Clemens Aviation and utility aircraft for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and WCF Aerospace on behalf of Skydance Helicopters, a company specializing in power-line maintenance.

“This achievement is a testament to our dedicated team and the trust our customers place in us,” said Jason Lindauer, vice president of sales and marketing. “We are conducting an aggressive campaign of face-to-face meetings with our customers, suppliers, and prospective customers to gather firsthand feedback and continue strengthening relationships.”

According to the company, MD introduced a number of process improvements over the past year. These include improving customer support, increasing investment in direct customer engagement, boosting production efficiency, ensuring spare parts are in stock, and maintaining healthy relationships with suppliers.

In 2022, MD emerged from bankruptcy protection and appointed a new board of directors, CEO, and senior executives, with the stated intention of restoring product support and gradually increasing helicopter production.
