Pilatus Receives Prestigious Living Legends of Aviation Award
Pilatus CEO Markus Bucher and the company’s leadership team received the Sam B. Williams Technology Award at the fourth Living Legends of Aviation Europe ceremony at the Scalaria Event Resort on Lake Wolfgang in Austria.
Together with other members of the management representing the Pilatus team, Pilatus CEO Markus Bucher received an award for outstanding achievement in aviation at the Living Legends of Aviation Europe awards ceremony. For the fourth time, the aviation “Oscars” were presented as part of Living Legends of Aviation Europe at the impressive Scalaria Event Resort on Lake Wolfgang, Austria. The event honors companies and individuals that have made significant contributions to aviation and the aerospace industry.
In this special setting, Markus Bucher and the Pilatus team accepted the Sam B. Williams Technology Award for the company’s tireless efforts to produce unique, world-class aircraft. The award was presented by Gregg G. Williams, owner, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Williams International, a leading developer and manufacturer of gas turbine engines. At the ceremony, Pilatus screened a video about the company’s achievements. Hollywood star Morgan Freeman, himself a passionate pilot, provided the narration for the video.
Pilatus CEO Markus Bucher was delighted with the award: “On behalf of the entire Pilatus team, I would like to thank the organizers, and Gregg Williams in particular, for the confidence they have placed in us and for this exceptional honor! This award is important recognition of our many years of effort and the work we do as a team every day—and it also spurs us on to reach new heights of success!”
The Living Legends of Aviation organization was established in 2003 to celebrate the second century of aviation and honor the outstanding achievements of pilots, industry representatives, astronauts and record holders. While the U.S. event is held in Los Angeles every spring, the European event takes place at the impressive Scalaria resort on Lake Wolfgang in Austria. The “European Legends” include such well-known names as Sir Richard Branson, founder of Virgin, and Felix Baumgartner, who is widely known for his space jump.
