Strong Pilatus Deliveries Boost Financial Results

Pilatus Aircraft reports a 10% increase in sales in 2023, with revenue rising to CHF 1.48 billion ($1.68 billion) and profit increasing by 6% to CHF 240 million. Last year, the company delivered 148 aircraft, including 101 PC-12s, an increase of 26% compared with 2022, and 47 PC-24s, an increase of 18%. However, orders for new aircraft received in 2023 fell by 7% to CHF 1.51 billion. The value of Pilatus’s order backlog at year-end declined by 3% to CHF 2.33 billion.

Among the highlights of last year for Pilatus was the October launch of a new version of the PC-24, which will offer increased payload and range. When the new model goes on sale by the end of 2024, it will be able to fly up to 2,000 nautical miles, and customers will be offered several new cabin interior options to choose from.

In May, the Swiss company delivered its 2,000th PC-12 to the U.S. private aviation group PlaneSense. Pilatus also expanded its government business by securing a contract with the Swiss Air Force to supply another 16 of its PC-21 training aircraft.

Amid continuing supply chain problems across the industry, Pilatus increased its workforce to 2,848 employees last year. The company said that, to support staff recruitment and retention, it increased salaries and improved vacation and pension benefits. “In 2023, we invested heavily in products, personnel, growth, infrastructure and digitalization, while always paying close attention to our customers’ needs,” commented Pilatus Chairman Hansueli Loosli.

To strengthen support for business aviation customers, Pilatus acquired the Aero Center Epps sales and service group in Atlanta in December. The company also completed its acquisition of Ruag Aerostructures in Emmen, Switzerland, with the aim of increasing its in-house production capacity.
